ABOUT ME

I was born and raised in Indiana.  I graduated from Ball State University in 1999 with a Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education.  I am certified in the following: Elementary K-6, Mathematics 5-9, ESE K-12, Family and Consumer Science 6-12, and Guidance and Counseling Pre-K - 12.  I taught in South Carolina for one year before moving back to Indiana where I went on to teach 16 years in Indianapolis.   I wanted to try something new so I owned a tutoring franchise for a bit and currently hold my real estate license. My husband and I just celebrated 15 years. We have two amazing kiddos, ages 11 and 14. We moved from Indiana to Venice in June of 2017.  I taught 5th grade one year in Sarasota County before resigning due to the need of a flexible schedule.  For the last 5 years, I have subbed for Charlotte County Schools, Sarasota County Schools, Sky Academy, and Student Leadership Academy. From the very first time I stepped foot in SLA, I knew it was the place to be! I am thrilled to teach 7th grade math and look forward to cultivating and maintaining positive and productive relationships with parents, students, faculty/staff, and the community.  In my free time, I enjoy spending time with my crazy, fun family and friends. We love to explore new places (love adventures), play games (very competitive), cook/dine (anything food related), hunt for shark teeth (our favorite spot is Manasota Beach), listen to live music, attend sporting events, and relax/nap.
